August has turned into a very busy month for me! This past weekend I made a trek up to Seattle to take two classes with Teesha Moore, go to the Fremont Flea Market and hang out with some friends. Then next week I am taking an almost two week vacation to California to visit my family. I am so so happy about all these amazing adventures (boy am I a lucky girl!)! The only bummer about being so busy is that I am also prepping for a class I get to teach at Handmade U next month. I've been working on stuff for several months but I still have a lot to do! Needless to say, the dishes and laundry are kinda suffering around Chez Geller! :-)
A few pics from the Seattle trip...here's the building that the Artfest Annex is in, which is very close to Pioneer Square.

The room was filled with sunlight and color color color!
My girlies...Cassondra, Amy, Hope and Stacie. And what a treat it was to see Lisa and Celeste, who were also in this class!
I took two classes with Teesha...Friday's class was The Little Journal of Big Intentions. In addition to teaching us how to make a little journal from watercolor paper, Teesha also read some excerpts and walked us through a few exercises that she drew from the book, The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent. I love that kind of stuff and so, of course, I went to Powell's when I got home and bought myself a copy. :-)
The journal in progress...
And here's what it looks like now...
The journal is about 5" x 5". A very portable and very cute size. I'm still not so hot on the cover but it was a super fun technique so I'm hoping it will grow on me. I've been having lots of fun doing some writing/doodling on a few of the pages...
There are still several blank pages but I'm sure as I read through The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent, I'll find some words for this journal to hold.
The class on Saturday was a 3D Mixed Media Painting project. It was fun and I love the collaged background I made using origami paper from Daiso (heart!!!). However, I'm gonna have to be patient and wait for my muse to make an appearance before I get this project finished.
Throughout the weekend, we had some really good meals and treats. One of highlights was Poquitos in the Capital Hill neighborhood, which is now one of my most favorite restaurants ever!
This young man asked if he could be in my picture of the sign. He seemed quite pleased when I said, "Sure!" His girlfriend? Yeah, not so pleased. :-)
The girls...
My dinner at Poquitos was Yam Tacos and they were taco-tastic! SO AMAZING!!!! I have been dreaming about these things for days now!
After dinner we walked through a few shops and Cass and Amy got cupcakes at Cupcake Royale. I heard there was a good ice cream place in town and so I was holding out for that. One of the shops we visited had a sort of photobooth...

It didn't take us too long to find the ice cream place I wanted to try. We just followed the line! Molly Moon's Homemade Ice Cream was the place and I highly recommend it! I tried the Strawberry Balsamic and Chunk Cherry flavors but had a split single scoop of Theo Chocolate and Salted Caramel. OMG so good!
On Sunday, we headed to the Fremont Flea Market. It was absolutely fabulous and everything I had hoped for! Cassondra said it was the largest she's ever seen it. Hooray for us! Here's Hope and I getting our daily dose of Starbucks before hittin' the flea. I adore this picture!
Around the Fremont neighborhood...
Lunch on Sunday was at El Camino..another fabulous meal!
The weather was wonderful the whole weekend...
And to top off my fabulous weekend adventure, Sunday night (after we had finished the barbecue veg burgers that Amy's husband made for us!), we impulsively decided to watch Friends with Benefits at the Valley 6 Drive-In theatre!!! Once I finally positioned myself so I could hear the bloody movie (GAWD I'm old!), it was so fun and SOOO nostalgic for me! Oh how I loved going to the drive-in when I was little. On the way we'd stop and get a pizza (from Gino's) to go with the six-pack of RC Cola. As soon as my Dad parked the car, my sisters and I would run off to go swing and ride the merry-go-round! That was so fun.
Because August is such a jam-packed, adventure-filled month for me, I started a souvenir journal that I've titled "My Life One August." I'll get some pictures of that and share with you in a few days.
See you soon!
