Artfest Class Projects

I have LOTS of pictures to share of the projects I made at ArtFest! The classes I took were Lynne Perrella's Shivering Fragments, Misty Mawn's Adaptations, and Anne Bagby's Beautiful Paper. What an amazing line up!!!

Lynne Perrella's class was day one. I adored Lynne! So kind and generous. I LOVED how she called everyone in the room an "artist." "Does someone have some an extra brush that this artist could borrow?" she would ask. Lynne did a lovely job teaching us her fabulous techniques and making us each feel beautiful and valuable. Thank you, Lynne. :-)

Having said all that sweetness, I have to say that I wasn't really happy with the piece in class! Still, that actually had no bearing on how much I loved this class. We gotta be okay with the process, right? Next time I'll get it. :-) So here's my piece...

We started with a piece of red rosin paper that was about 2' by 3'. We did LOTS and LOTS of layering with gesso, paint, stamps, Portfolio pastels, and collage. Lynne said that the only way you can get that layered look...is to layer. :-) Mine turned into a big mess and just when I thought about dumping it, Lynne taught us how to turn our work into a book. After having done this, I think some of my "pages" were saved...

I still need to paint out to the edges, do some sewing, and add some more embellishments but I think I might keep this. :-)

My next class was with Misty Mawn. What a lovely soul. Very kind. Her class felt very quiet. She professes shyness. I took it as time to spend in my head. That was very welcome so it wasn't quiet boring but quiet thoughtful. It felt like a safe place to explore our art.

Misty certainly wasn't shy is sharing technique after technique with us! They all involved lots of paint (yay!) and lots of gel medium transfers (more yay!!!). Super cool! This is another work in progress but I'm very happy with what it's turning into...

Here's the back...I totally meant to have this be the front because it was my favorite image but I punched the holes wrong so there you go!

My last class was paper decorating with Anne Bagby. What a GREAT gal! I adored her! Lots of energy and just fun.

I made 10 pieces of paper but several were just plain ugly. Here are my top four favorites...

Each sheet is about 10" x 10". Can I say that after having done this, I may never buy decorated scrapbook paper again? This was SO much fun! Oh and check this out...I used a piece of tissue paper to blot my roller...and even that turned out pretty! :-)

Sigh...so much fun...so much art.

I just have a few more pictures...I wanted to share that on the night of the bonfire, my dear buddy Lilli played violin. She plays SO lovely! It truly made this evening magic!

I already know that I'll be going back to ArtFest next year. I'd start on my trades NOW! :-)

i love everything you shared...and I am happy to see you stretch yourself into another color scheme...i have a hard time doing that...can be scary....

I love to watch Misty work...she's so present and "in the process"...
