I've been following Emily's Playing Card Art Journal prompts and playing along. SO much fun!!! I'm really enjoying working on these little "canvases!" Here is the card I did for January 14th's prompt, "What is powerful to me,"
This one was difficult. My instinct was to say that "love" is powerful to me. And it is! But, as you may recall, last Monday was Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday. I went back and read a few of his speeches on that day and just kept thinking about the passion and vision and fortitude this man had! Through Dr. King's ability to eloquently articulate his observations and feelings, he made a difference. So when I say, "my voice," I am most definitely NOT talking about my singing voice! I am just reminding myself that through my voice, I affect those around me. My words are powerful. Your words are powerful. I recall when I was taking Toastmasters years ago, one of the leaders talked about how the ability to be able to get up in front of people to speak and to share your opinion was like having a super power! I TOTALLY believe him! To be able to say what's on my mind in front of a large group of people or even just to be able to ask my math teacher a question if front of the class is satisfying and empowering!
Emily's prompt yesterday was, "I am."
This one was much easier. I just said to myself, "I am....." And these are the words came out! Trouble is, not I can't get that dang song out of my head!!! :-)
Oh and just in case you were wonderin', we have FUN at our house! Miranda's two little buddies can attest to that!
your playing cards are awesome...I have been doing it too and hope to post them tomorrow!
Those spring onions look like they are lively little things!! HEHE!

Dang! i almost had to wait in line to say " Thank you" for the information. i appreciate you covering the basics with me. Sometimes artists assume that we all have a certain level of skill, but it is SO not true with me! You ROCK!!!
