So far it's been a pretty nice day for me. I slept in, just finished reading the paper and am now enjoying some coffee and computer time. It's really breezy outside! The trees and wind chimes are making all kinds of noise! So I think I'll go for a walk! I LOVE it when it's like that! Also on the agenda today is garden time and art time. I HAVE to spend some time today in my little studio to work on my Just Johanna Design Team assignments. I've got three items done so I still have four more to do. Happily, and it always seems to work this way, I have exactly FOUR ideas in my head so now just have to bring them to fruition! :-)
Yesterday Glen, Miranda and I went to the Oregon Zoo. What a wonderful day! The weather was PERFECT! Mild and warm with that yummy cool breeze. Everyone was in a good mood so we had a nice light fun day without any drama or tears! The Oregon Zoo does a pretty good job with providing livable habitats for the animals and have some nice rehabilitation, repopulation, and conservation programs in place so I didn't get too emotional seeing the animals. So here's a family picture:
And put your eyeballs on this gorgeousness! He was flappin' his wings and making a grand display for everyone! A-mazing. Not only from the patriotic aspect but I am simply in awe of how glorious he was to see. I've seen eagles from a distance before out in the real world but up close like this was just spectacular!
I would have to say our most favorite exhibit was the bats. SO much activity and they are just such incredible creatures. We spent about 15 minutes just watching and calling each other over to look at different bats and what they were doing. None of my pictures came out presentable since it was through glass.
There were a couple of disappointments with the day. The food. Of course! They had garden burgers but they pretty awful plus they made both Miranda and I feel icky. Glen actually didn't eat his so he was fine! :-) And then, the ultimate disappointment - Pink Martini cancelled!!! They were all set up, did their sound check earlier but come show time, the bandleader couldn't be found!!! The lead singer came out and apologized and expressed how scared the band was because they didn't know what was going on. On the bright side, the night was simply superb. Comfortable with a jacket, not raining or damp. So hanging out "waiting" with friends laying on blankets, catching up, enjoying the sky...not a terrible way to spend a night! Lord knows I've had worse!! :-)
Enjoy your day!!!
Oh, I love the zoo---amazing pic of the eagle! So sad Pink Martini wasn't able to come through for you all tho---I've heard great things about their group, haven't had the pleasure of seeing them in person, but my sweetie has some of their music, and they sound fun! Super family photo too! Hope your Sunday continues to be relaxing and productive at the same time :).

hey, maybe the pink martini leader had one too many of those garden burgers or maybe he made friends with a pink flamingo and they decided to get out of there.

Sorry about the food but I'm glad that at least your day was full of fun watching the animals. The eagle is so beautiful, he/she looks magnificent!
