Sigh. Well, ladies and gentlemen, this week was "back to school." I took the summer off from any credit courses so I could dedicate some time to play! It was marvelous! I got lots of artsy craftsy stuff done, did lots of junque shopping, made some jewelry and spent lots of time with family and friends. But, alas, 'tis time to get back on the stick!
So I'm trying two courses this term. Graphic Design (GD) I and Introduction to Drawing. I am so excited because both of these classes promise to be AWESOME! It looks like both classes are going to allow plenty of class time to work on assignments so there won't be too much homework. Thank the goodness! That would have sucked if either one of them were as intense as that History of Graphic Design course I took last spring. That was a real buttkicker! I'm READY for the chance to start doing some REAL art and design stuff!
The Introduction to Drawing is just going to be awesome! SO excited about this one! The instructor seems really laid back BUT very structured. I love that kind of environment! One of the assignments is going to be be creating a collage! Oh my. I am going to school and I get to make a collage?! It just doesn't get any better than that! Have you ever heard of Eunice Parsons? I love her stuff!
So I decided to re-apply for the Just Johanna Design Team. Even though I got the work, school, and family thing going on, I just can't not try again. It's been so good for me being on this team because not only has it kept me pushing myself but it has also forced me to schedule "art time." I only let myself get stressed over the assignments once so I have confidence that I can manage my time and continue to positively contribute to the team! Go team! :-)
Another little cool thing going on for me is that I have been asked to design the invitations for the Neuberger Banquet. This is an annual fundraiser for the Washington County Democrats, named after former Senator, Maurine Neuberger. Some local celebrities attend and it's just a nice community celebration. When I was asked if I could volunteer, I explained my work and school schedule and said if there was anything that I could do late night on the computer, I'd be up for it! I was then asked what I was going to school for and BINGO! I am now the new "it" girl! :-) My name is next to anything that involves designing - invitations, forms, placards, and bid sheets! It's more added to my plate but I am TOTALLY thrilled! And Holy Moly! What a GREAT opportunity to practice! This will give me a real good chance to decide if this is an aspect of Graphic Design that I want to pursue!
Well I'm off now to start work on a baby blanket for our neighbor. She knows she's having a girl so more girly ribbon! I'm doing something similar to the one I made for Tina and Ryan's future Rylie Simone but I'm doing the ribbon border different. I'll post a picture of it to share with yall when I get it done!
Enjoy your Saturday!!! Peace out!
Good Golly Miss Molly! You sure like it busy! :)
