With both Glen in town (he's been doing a lot of traveling lately) and Miranda in town (she's currently living in California and was visiting Portland), we decided to spend our Memorial Day the best way possible...visiting Willamette National Cemetery to proudly honor our Nation's veterans and visit the graves of some very special family members. Glen's mom, Glen's uncle and my father are buried at Willamette.
Having family in a national cemetery as well as three family members currently serving our country (two nephews and my niece's husband), Memorial Day is way more than just a day off to my family. This day serves to remind us how fortunate we are to live in a great country with brave men and women, past and present, who sacrifice so much. Thank you.
Visiting Willamette National Cemetery on Memorial Day is nothing short of breathtaking. American flags are placed on the grave of every veteran. Pictures don't begin to do this beautiful and spectacular sight justice.
