What a whirlwind of weekend! A LONG weekend I might add since I took last Thursday and Friday off from work. I’ve noticed that for the last several years, I’ve needed to take a long weekend in January. I’m sure it’s partly due to the fact that I need a chance to regroup after the holidays. But also, I like to have a day off to plan ahead for the annual Creative Memories Celebrate! Portland event occurs the last Saturday in January. Back to that in a minute…
So I spent Thursday and Friday just puttering around the house, watched a couple of movies…Marie Antionette, The Guru, Shawshank Redemption and Miss Potter. I also watched a DVD a friend let me borrow of some episodes from the Muppet Show. LOVE that! I also spent quite a bit of time assembling storage cubes. I mentioned I’ve been reorganizing my studio and I’ve been slowly buying these cubes at Michael’s with my 40% off coupons. Last weekend, they went on sale for 50% off! I was ecstatic because I could go in and buy all that I needed...on sale! My little room is just getting sweeter and sweeter! I promise to show pictures once I get things all put away pretty like!
On Friday, I got a very special prezzie in the mail from my sweet Momma. She knows I’m doing a Mermaid and Seaside Swap and so she sent me her very precious collection of seashells and driftwood that she has had for close to 30 years. And a sweet touch…some of the little "assemblages" were pieces I had made with driftwood, seagulls, seashells and rocks when I was a young lass, circa 1979. None of these pieces will find their way into the swap, but they’ll sure find a very special little spot in my studio. Thanks Momma!
Saturday I got to scrapbook all day! I went to the annual Creative Memories Celebrate! Portland event. The truth is I probably could have saved myself some money and scrapbooked at home all day. But there’s just something about being in a huge room filled with 1,800 enthusiastic scrapbookers that just helps motivate me to get down to doing some serious scrapbooking.
One of my goals this year is to make a dent in my scrapbooks. I went to the Celebrate! Portland event last January and that turned out to be the ONLY time I scrapbooked the whole entire year. I’m determined to NOT let that be the case this year!
I took along several projects to work on. I finally finished up the book from the Karen Russell class I took last summer or something like that. I took the class with Claudine and I’m sure she finished her book already. I took my crazy sweet time getting mine done.
I also put my Silver Bella charm bracelet all together. Can you guess which one's mine?
Oh and here's a peek at the way I'm storing/displaying my charm bracelet collection. Good thing there's room for more 'cuz more's comin'! :-)
And then, finally, I even scrapbooked at the all day scrapbook event! Imagine that! I got about five pages done which is pretty good for me.
Saturday night when I got home, I was pretty beat, which is par for the course. Also, there was the threat of snow and ice all day so I was a little stressed out about my drive home. I got home (the drive home was fine, btw!), I checked the mail (Glen leaves that task for me because he knows I love it!) and lo and behold, there was a treat waiting for me! The latest issue of Creating Keepsakes! I LOVE it when a good magazine arrives in the post just in time for a Saturday night! Glen and I had a good sprawl on the couch, with the kitties and a nice fire going, and I had my issue of CK and Hanna Andersson’s book A Creative Year by iHanna to read.
If you haven’t popped over to Lulu.com to check out Hanna's book, I’d encourage you to go do that. This book is gorgeous! Shock full of art, crafts, inspiration and adventure! Hanna’s Mom is also very crafty and so we get to see her projects too. I’m VERY happy I bought it! Here are a couple of inside peeks!
Just lovely. As I go through it, the word "rich" comes to mind. It is just so rich with beauty and inspiration. Well done, Hanna!
Take care and Happy Monday to you!!!
